Amy Cruz started her teaching career 20 years ago after getting a music education degree from New York University and a Masters degree from Queens College. She has always been an advocate for making the arts accessible to all students. Two years ago, she developed a curriculum for a special needs music class that serves the moderate and severe special ed populations, the first of it's kind in the Sweetwater District. Amy has been a site and district Teacher of the Year, Fortissimo Award recipient, as well as being recognized by the Department of Special Services for her work with students with disabilites.
