Teaching Artists - SAVE YOURSELF! Create Life Balance through Self-Care - This is the Key!
SAVE YOURSELF is an experiential session, during which participants learn and immediately apply powerful self-care tools that bring refreshment, uplifted mood, and a sense of well-being and balance - both in and out of the classroom! These tools are easily integrated into daily living and, when practiced, become second nature - or, even first nature! Participants learn how to easily flow with WAFT* and be carried lightly through all of life's experiences! By flowing with WAFT*, you will see and experience shifts all around you - even in your loved ones, peers and students! Join us in this powerful session and be uplifted!

* "WAFT" is a trademarked process developed by Susan Hall.
Curious what "WAFT" is? Join us and find out! You'll be glad you did!

Building Connections through Arts-Based Community Art Making
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Since 2012, the New Children’s Museum has partnered with local artists to develop workshops for its annual outreach program Mass Creativity. These workshops are designed to inspire imagination and creativity, and make hands-on art-making accessible to those that might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it. Through Mass Creativity, communities from diverse areas of San Diego are welcome to participate in the free workshops throughout May and June. The outreach program culminates in a free all-day event at the museum. This year the museum decided to break with tradition and offer four staff members - two Teaching Artists and two Playworkers - the chance to collaborate and develop a workshop concept. Fusing together play and the museum’s outreach model of arts-based community making, we chose to center the workshops around the theme of storytelling in an effort to offer a space for the San Diego community to represent themselves in their own words, images, and sounds. This session is targeted towards those who are interested in learning more about our process of developing and executing a large scale arts-based community outreach program for a diverse audience. Our panel will address how we wove together storytelling, art, and play to create a unique workshop environment where participants felt encouraged to make connections across and within communities. Participants will have the opportunity to not only engage in an in-depth discussion of the process, but also participate in one of the hands-on art making projects developed for Mass Creativity 2017.
