A professor of literacy at Cal State San Marcos since 1992. Prior to that, she taught middle school for eleven years. She teaches literacy courses in the credential program, children's literature, literacy for the 21st century and writing courses in the M.A. program. Her research and writing include supporting the writing of English Learners, the reading and writing connection, middle level education and arts integration. She also founded and directs the San Marcos Writing.
